LG teams-up with National Geographic on 3D content:

As part of its marketing activities for the Optimus 3D, LG is collaborating with National Geographic Assignment photographers to create some 3D image and video content. The material will be shot entirely with the LG’s 3D-enabled smartphone, allowing participating photographers to “easily capture high-definition 3D content in a variety of locations.”

The elite roster of photojournalists — comprised of four photographers and two videographers — will have their work exhibited at IFA in Berlin, Germany from September 2-7, 2011. The National Geographic staff includes Steven Alvarez, Brian Skerry, Bryan Harvey, Justin Guariglia, Peter Hutchens and Steve Winter.

After that official presentation part, I would assume LG would make a portion of those photos and videos available to the Optimus 3D owners. I don’t have this confirmed though – I’m just speculating. ;)

As a reminder, LG Optimus 3D is the first tri-dual (dual-core, dual-channel, dual-memory) Android smartphone with a 4.3-inch glasses-free 3D screen, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth and so on.

HTC Omega first press shot leaked:

We’ve been telling you about the HTC Omega, the Taiwanese company’s upcoming Windows Phone 7 device that will most likely be unveiled at HTC’s September event. If you recall, we’re talking about a smartphone with a 3.8-inch S-LCD WVGA touchscreen, 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 SoC, 8-megapixel camera with flash on the back, and 512MB of RAM.

Now we’re glad to show you the first press photo we got, compliments to PocketNow and its ninjas. As you can see, there’s a front-facing camera on this baby and something tells us the Omega will support Skype video calls. Heck even if that doesn’t happen at launch and considering Microsoft now owns the VoIP company, we’re sure we won’t have to wait for too long to see the Redmond giant promoting out-of-box Skype experience as one of the key selling points of its mobile platform. We’ll keep following all the news and let you know as soon as we hear something interesting.

Watch Steve Jobs introduce the original iPhone:

“Every once in a while, a revolutionary product comes along that changes everything …” Steve Jobs said during a MacWorld keynote in 2007 and this was definitely hyperbole but the introduction of the original iPhone was a major moment in mobile history. With news that Jobs is resigning as Apple CEO, we thought it would be fun to take a look back at Jobs’ showing the world the first iPhone.

We’re expecting an iPhone 5 to be announced in just a few short weeks and I’d still bet that Jobs may be the one to introduce it. If that’s not the case, just take a few minutes to watch the videos below to see how this whole crazy iPhone thing got started. I know it’s long, but try and watch it all the way through because there are some interesting moments. Notice how awkward Cingular’s CEO seems compared to Jobs and watch Jobs stalling for time with a Woz story.
